John Hall Morgan Hall Cardiff Plane. Condition is Used..
Thanks for looking! This auction is for a RECORD No. 077A BULLNOSE RABBET PLANE: everything intact and original, including two shims for the nose-piece (different thicknesses = 4 distinct throat settings, PLUS the Bullnose function without the nose!) Currently rust free, lightly oiled, and in very good condition. The plane itself dates from between 1943 and 1953 probably, judging by the cast "RECORD" logo on the cap. The "077A" was updated and renamed the "077" sometime after 1960... data is hard to pin down from online tool-date sites. The body was left in a damp spot or in a wet box at some point in its 60-80 year career, and the resulting stains and pitting are significant on the right side, and to some degree on the blade as well (see photos- note the chip to the cutting edge of the blade, though there is plenty of blade remaining to grind that out). That right side is still flat and a perfect reference surface for use, but isn't pretty... character?! No rust now, and lightly oiled through-out.The two original shims are flat and bright, the cap is clean and bright, the threaded elements are perfect, with very modest patina. Its a nice, heavy plane!I use PayPal, and expect prompt payment. Shipping will be Small Flat Rate Priority Post. I'm happy to combine shipping and repackage if necessary: wait for my corrected invoice! I will post internationally, and the buyer will pay all costs as quoted.I will be listing other items for days: tool chests, Lie-Nielsen NIB tools, Bridge.
